I really enjoy the design. It is compact, comfortable and reliable. And it looks amazing! I am very happy with the purchase. It is definitely worth its money. The product is top-notch! The material is stylish, but it smells for the first couple of days. I don’t know anything about other models from this brand, but I am fully satisfied with this product.
Why did this pedestal fan come in second place?
The design quality is top notch and the color is nice. Seems that the material is good. It has a very beautiful color but I don’t really like the texture. I really liked it. It is amazing in every aspect. It did even exceed my expectations for a bit, considering the affordable price. I like this product. For such a low price, I didn’t even hope it to be any better. It’s decently made.
Why did this pedestal fan take third place?
The material is incredibly nice to the touch. It has a great color, which will suit any wallpapers. It is inconvenient to use due to the size. I am going to get something different next time. This price is appropriate since the product is very well built. I liked the design. We’ve been using it for 2 months and it still looks like brand new.
pedestal fan Buyer’s Guide
The Insider Pick
Most people love summer, but there are three little things that make it rough: Excessive heat, the stinky sweat that heat causes, and nasty tan lines. You wear high socks one time while mowing the lawn, and you have to live down the bad tan line all summer.
Fortunately, the best electric fans can help you with the first two problems. Electric fans move a volume of air around your body, allowing you to feel cooler and sweat less. When a larger fan moves air, it circulates the air throughout a room, eliminating hot spots and cold spots.
Electric fans have been around for decades, but that doesn’t mean they’ve stood still, just spinning their wheels … or blades. Even a simple home appliance like an electric fan has seen impressive gains in function and performance over recent years. With all of the available designs, finding a fan that can meet your specific needs has never been easier.
Considerations for a fan
Although a fan seems like a simple device, it actually has a variety of uses that make it a valuable appliance for your home. Sure, you could buy a basic fan with no features for a really low price. But missing out on these features means you might as well go back to the Victorian era with fancy handheld fans. Just don’t go back to wearing heavy, long clothing in the summer, or that stinky sweat problem we mentioned earlier will grow about ten-fold, fan or no fan.
Gizmodo discusses, it also evaporates sweat on the skin, which is the body’s method of cooling itself.
An oscillating fan turns back and forth, allowing the air movement to shift throughout the room. If you have multiple people in the room — or if your big dog likes to lay directly in front of the non-oscillating fan — the rotation of the fan works well, making sure everyone feels some air movement.
A small personal fan may include a clip, allowing you to place it almost anywhere … even on a shirt collar. These tiny fans don’t move air around an entire room but may help you feel cooler while sitting at a desk or at a baseball game. Some of these fans run from batteries.
A tower fan is a specific non-traditional fan design. Towers are tall and thin, meaning they occupy less space than a traditional fan that has a large, round fan blade housing. Tower fans tend to run quieter than traditional fan blade designs.
Although the Vornado 660 Large Whole Room Air Circulator Fan is our top electric fan pick, for various reasons laid out in the slides below, you should also consider the Seville Classics Ultra Slimline Tower Fan, the Avalon Convertible Table-Top and Clip Fan, the Rowenta VU555Turbo Silence Oscillating Fan, and the Dyson Air Multiplier AM0Table Fan.
Why you’ll love it: The Vornado 660 Large Whole Room Air Circulator fan sets itself apart from the crowd with multiple air flow settings and a small footprint.
For a versatile electric fan, the Vornado 660 Large Whole Room Air Circulator earns high marks. It works in a number of different situations and locations, so it should fit almost everyone’s needs. The fan is small enough to set on a desk and keep you cool as a personal fan, but the Vornado 660 has enough power at the highest setting to circulate the air properly in a large room, too.
Most buyers seem to agree that the Vornado fan is more than powerful enough to cool large or small spaces, and expert reviewers consistently praise this fan. It is pricey, but it’s a worthwhile investment for a powerful fan that’s built to work in a variety of situations.
Why you’ll love it: The Seville Classics Ultra Slimline Tower Fan offers the best combination of silent operation and airflow in an attractive tower fan design.
One of the most common complaints we all have about electric fans is noise. Sure, almost any electric fan can move a lot of air. However, it may sound like a fleet of airplanes have invaded your home when your old box fan gets going on the high setting.
Uses a fraction of the power of air conditioners
Economical: Portable electric fans are inexpensive to purchase and cost just pennies a day to operate. Therefore, they’re a great way to stay cool and add ventilation without spending a lot of money.
Easy to Operate: Portable electric fans do not require any type of installation or mounting. Simply plug in your fan, turn it on, and enjoy cooling comfort.
Portable: Again, because portable fans do not require permanent installation or mounting, they can be moved from one area to the next with ease.
Multi-Functional: In addition to providing a cooling effect, electric fans are also excellent at adding ventilation.
The blade sweep of a fan is generally the circular area that is covered by the fan’s blades while in rotation. The diameter of a fan’s blade sweep, on fans with multiple blades, is measured by taking the distance from the edge of one blade to the edge of the opposite blade.
Plastic fans can look cheap but can be more practical. They don’t rust. Stainless steel will still rust (most steel fans are only coated or chromed anyway), and even brass fans can oxidize and require polishing.
Metal fans are tougher and will stand up to being knocked over while plastic can crack.
Fans will collect dust after a few months of use. An easily removable grill is convenient. Unfortunately some fans need to be unscrewed and disassembled to reach the fan blades. Others may not be designed to be opened at all.
For safety, the fan should be unplugged before any cleaning.
Industrial fans are rated by the amount of air they move: Cubic Feet per Minute (CFM). Consumer fans are rarely rated this way.
The input power rating (watts) of the fan is an imperfect but usable indication of the wind power of a consumer fan.

Size of room
The size of the room in your house or office should be considered when shopping for a pedestal fan. Most people do not understand how important size is until they buy one that is either too small to work effectively in a big room or too big and powerful for a small room.
The Fixed design or the directional design
There are two basic designs for these fans: the Fixed design and the Directional design. Fixed design fans are the types that do not rotate. They are designed to blow air in only one direction and are good for a small room or if it is just a particular area that you want to cool.
However, if you want to cool a larger area or an entire room you should be looking at getting a Directional design. The Directional design rotates from side to side, so it will blow air in different directions of the room. For instance, if you want to purchase a fan for an office environment the directional one will be ideal especially if you were having a meeting with several people in a meeting room.
As the directional fan rotates from side to side, it will distribute the air around everyone in the room, whereas the fixed type will only be blowing air on one or two people.
Remote controls and controls
Most pedestal fans are controlled by a number of switches on the body of the fan. However, there are some that have remote controls to make life easier. If you get too hot or too cold you can control it from anywhere in the room without having to get up and touch the switches on the fan.
Most of these fans use plywood for blades, but some come steel blades, aluminum blades, and even plastic blades on some of the cheaper models. Obviously, the ones that have aluminum and steel blades will be more dangerous than the plastic or wooden blades.
Does not use as much power as an air conditioner
Pedestal fans are multi-functional. They add ventilation as well as cool your room.
White clamor can be an issue when you are sitting in front of the TV or when you are resting. You ought to consider the amount of clamor you can hold up under and pick a calm model on the off chance that you feel you will be pestered by the commotion.
Being unstable is one thing however in the event that there are an excessive number of reports of the fan biting the dust soon or not working by any means, there is an issue. Notwithstanding when there is a guarantee, the substitution procedure is going to devour your time. Regardless of in the event that you purchase modest or costly, it is best to pick one that will, in any event, last the warm season.

Specifically, it was the engine that tended to give out soon.
Plastic fans are also perfect. They are very cheap and there are no rusting problems. Even if you choose stainless steel fans, they will also rust. Most steel fans are covered by a coated and chromed finish, but this doesn’t mean they don’t rust. Brass fans also rust because of oxidization in the air. Polishing can prolong its life. Plastic can crack, while metal pedestal fans are much tougher and they are not easy to be knocked over. The blades are mainly made of plastic and Aluminum.

How we picked
Doing this dramatically reduced our pool of potential test hardware, but we still had 1devices to test for this guide’s initial version—seven fans for a large room and five for small personal spaces. Since then, we’ve watched for new products by regularly checking in with manufacturers—reading press releases, emailing contacts, and meeting at trade shows. The most promising contenders have gone up against our picks in some head-to-head testing; many more have been dismissed as competitors.
The engineers at Intertek said our simple test rig was good enough to get a general idea of each fan’s airflow performance.
The three key metrics for measuring fans’ performance are airflow velocity, air circulation, and noise. We determined those three metrics—and learned how to effectively measure them—in several conversations with engineers at Intertek, an industrial product testing company based in the UK.
Our test space in 201was a small apartment in Boston, where we were able to build a rudimentary wind tunnel out of cardboard and duct tape. The wind tunnel, essentially an oversized duct, measured six feet in length and had a 14-by-14-inch opening on each end. With a fan blowing from one end and a handheld digital anemometer fastened to a microphone stand at the other, we were able to collect some basic airflow and velocity readings. Based on a description, the engineers at Intertek said our simple test rig was good enough to get a general idea of each fan’s airflow performance.
For each fan, we took a series of five velocity readings in feet per minute (fpm): lower left, lower right, upper left, upper right, and center. These figures were then multiplied by the square footage of the duct opening, averaged, and weighted according to the air velocity measurements recommended by engineers at Intertek (loosely described here). This gave us some airflow readings in cubic feet per minute (CFM), which is the standard unit of measurement used by HVAC contractors to determine the volume of air moving through a duct system.
Flaws but not dealbreakers
We have two real complaints and one long-term reliability issue.
First, dusting the surface of the machine or the nooks and crannies of its front grate or back plate is easy, but it’s staggeringly difficult to take apart and give it a thorough cleaning. (To be fair, just about every other tower fan is just as difficult to clean.) You can get in there with a Q-tip and clean out the holes, but it’s still a lot of work. A determined individual posted a step-by-step video on how to do it on YouTube.
Next, on the back of the fan, behind the on board control panel, a plastic hook is designed to hang the remote control. Everything else about the Seville seems so well-considered, but the hook feels like a clunky afterthought. It works well enough so long as the fan’s stationary, but put the remote in your pocket if you plan on picking up the Seville to move it.
First of all thanks for reading my article to the end! I hope you find my reviews listed here useful and that it allows you to make a proper comparison of what is best to fit your needs and budget. Don’t be afraid to try more than one product if your first pick doesn’t do the trick.
Most important, have fun and choose your pedestal fan wisely! Good luck!
